A Dangerous Grace

God’s grace sets us free—but what if that grace is more dangerous than we realize? In John 8, Jesus reveals the truth that sets us free and shows us what it means to live in spiritual freedom through His grace.
In Week 2 of the JAILBREAK series, Pastor Bill Russell explores the powerful connection between truth, grace, and freedom in Christ. Jesus is not merely a teacher of truth—He is the Truth, and because He is God, He has the authority to set us free. John 8 reminds us that knowing the truth is more than knowing facts about Jesus; it is knowing Christ personally and experiencing the freedom He provides.
But God's grace is dangerous because it threatens everything that wants to imprison us—legalism, performance, guilt, shame, condemnation, accusation, fear, and the power of sin. Through the story of the woman caught in adultery, we see Jesus embody both uncompromising truth and radical grace. He doesn't minimize sin, but neither does He allow condemnation to have the final word: “Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.”
The truth is, it takes a Dangerous Grace to live a life of spiritual freedom. If Christ has set you free, you don't have to spend your life managing your chains. You can walk free.
