Coffee In Community!
This morning I want to talk about the importance of community! Specifically the importance of our FAITH COMMUNITY! Today we will join Jesus at a dinner party of sorts, where we will enjoy some coffee in community! Now a little context to understand exactly where we are. We are in John 12, and it is 6 days before the Passover, meaning we are six days removed from Jesus going to the cross. We are at the home of Jesus good friends, Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Yes that is the same Lazarus that Jesus raised from the dead. In fact this amazing miracle happens about a month or so prior to this dinner party, is that event is fresh in everyones minds. At the same time, when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, He also raised the ire of the religious establishment. People have begun to take notice of Jesus and the religious leaders are feeling more and more threatened by Him. That is the setting as we arrive at this dinner party in John 12.
