Running Free

Sermon Hand-Out Notes

How do we live in the freedom Christ has already given us? Hebrews 12:1–3   teaches us how to run free—with confidence, purpose, focus, and  endurance. In this message from the JAILBREAK series, Pastor Bill Russell   reminds us that we have not been set free simply to stand still—we have   been set free to run the race God has placed before us. The heroes of   Hebrews 11 testify to God's faithfulness, while Jesus is the ultimate example   of endurance, fixing His eyes beyond the cross to the joy set before Him

What does it look like to run free? We run with confidence because God has  been faithful. We run with purpose, declaring Christ, living in grace, and   persevering to the finish. We run with focus by fixing our eyes on Jesus,   we learn to run light by laying aside the sins, expectations,  resentment,  labels, and anything that  can weigh down and hinder our our spiritual lives.

The Christian life is not about running to earn freedom or trying to prove   ourselves to God. We run because we have already been set free. And we   don't run alone—we run together, encouraging one another to remain   faithful, keep our eyes on Jesus, and finish the race God has given us. I've  Been Set Free to Run Free!
