Looking Forward to the New Year

As we stand at the threshold of a new year, Looking Forward to the New Year invites us to see how the message of Christmas is not meant to end on December 25th but to shape the entire year ahead. Drawing from Matthew 2:1–12 and Luke 2:22–35, this message explores how God desires to fill our lives and flood our year with His Shekinah Glory—His visible, transforming presence. Through the faith of the Magi and the devotion of Simeon, we are reminded that God is always at work, even in seasons of waiting, silence, or uncertainty.
This sermon challenges us to approach the new year from three spiritual directions. By looking upward, we worship the Christ who has already come. By looking forward, we live with hopeful anticipation of His promised return. And by looking inward, we reflect on His redeeming love that transforms us from the inside out. Just as the Magi followed the glory of God and Simeon waited faithfully for the Consolation of Israel, we too are called to live with eternal perspective and spiritual attentiveness.
As we enter the new year, this message encourages believers to move forward not with fear or hesitation, but with faith-filled expectation. Because God kept His promise in sending Jesus the first time, we can trust Him with the year ahead. The glory revealed at Christmas is the same glory that sustains, shapes, and transforms us—day by day, from glory to glory.
